Slingshot’s competitors require you to manually copy the lines from your web shopping cart into a requisition or purchase order.  Slingshot automates this process.  Shop on your supplier’s web site in the normal manner.  When you are ready to check out, click a button and the contents of your shopping cart are instantly copied into a Slingshot Requisition or Purchase Order.   Slingshot automatically adds the items selected to its product master table and maintains a relationship between your stock number and the supplier’s.  This avoids the creation of duplicate products when the same item is purchased at a later date.

Slingshot requisitioners, buyers and approvers can now view available funds for each request or purchase order line.  This ensures that budget controls are respected at each point in the procurement process.  The improved visibility encourages users to moderate spend in early periods which helps promote a favorable variance at year end.

A red Over Budget label appears when a purchase would overspend the year to date budget.

Procurement PunchOut” is the interaction between a vendor's web storefront and a buyer's procurement application.

Slingshot supports PunchOut when creating either requisitions or purchase orders.  Click a link to access your supplier’s web site.  Shop on the site and check out.  The contents of your shopping cart are returned to Slingshot and added to the current requisition or purchase order.   Once approved, a purchase order is automatically transmitted to the supplier.

Today’s buyers are increasingly relying on the Internet to streamline procurement processes.  However, many applications still treat the Internet as an external source of information.  Only Slingshot integrates the ability to shop the web for any item on a request or PO.  Simply click a link within Slingshot and a new browser tab opens listing suppliers and prices for the item selected.  A second link allows you to compare you own purchase history for the item including supplier performance.  You can expand your search to include similar items.  When you believe you have identified the source supplier you can “tentatively” add it to the requisition line....

Slingshot allows requisitions, purchase orders, supplier invoices, P-Card statements and expense reports to be approved on mobile devices, tablet computers or by eMail.  eMail approvals have been enhanced allowing the user to approve or deny approval in the body of the eMail message without logging into Slingshot.  

The user views the document requiring approval and approves or denies approval with one click.

Slingshot has converted its native mobile development environments to the cross-platform Apache Cordova toolset (also known as Adobe PhoneGap).  This makes Slingshot’s applications available on all popular phones including Android, IOS, Windows phone, and Blackberry.  The new toolset promises to speed development as Slingshot broadens its mobile offerings.  The “Cordova based” versions of Slingshot’s mobile Apps will be included in release G2-7.3 which will be available in late December.
